I highly recommend taking the local train from Porto up the river Douro. You should go all the way to Pocinho (the landscape is still changing a lot on the last part), but Pinhão is the perfect stopover - particularly if you want to stay for a night. Watching the beautiful landscape and the huge wine yards where the Port wine grows from an open train window is a real experience. It is supposedly one of the most beautiful train rides in the world.

That sounds really interesting! Do you have any pictures from there?

sebuloves Hotel Residencial Douro because it's a small hotel right next to the railway station of Pinhão, with many of the rooms overviewing the beautiful river Douro.

sebuloves Pinhão because it's a beautiful small village amidst the winebergs where the famous Port wine grows.
