From Dulles Airport to Washington's Mall, the cheapest way to go around is to take the Metrobus 5A (Arrival terminal). 3,1 Us dollars one way, it will take you one hour to go to the corner of D street and 7th street, 5 minutes walk from the Mall, Capitol, museums...

There are several ways to discover the salar. A very good way to do so is to take a three or four days tour from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) or the opposite way. Transportation is done in basic Jeeps and most of the time, food and accomodations is included. Just make your shopping between the different tour operators that propose the crossing, and be sure to talk to tourists that did the trip before you in order to choose the best agency. Mine was Cordillera Travels. Excellent and funny driver, good food and one night in a salt hotel was included. Paid 52000 pesos, april 2008.

Watch out : there is not car insurance on the island. In case of an accident, you are responsible for all the damages ! And it is pretty common to see cows and horses jumping right in front of your vehicle. Respecting the speed limit (60) and keeping his eyes wide open is a good way to prevent accidents that can be deadly !
