Well worth the bumpy ride on FSR 376. Get there early for a solitary soak looking north west across the river to the ridge... Multiple, stacked pools at around 103...
The band was The Streels. The food was hot, crispy, most excellent fish & chips. And the drink…? Guinness. Which is, they say, good for you. The room was banged up pub at it’s most sincere: The Atlantic Trap & Gill.

I spent a week in Joshua Tree last January (2008) and had the most amazing time. Solitude of a very particular quality and a great variety of hikes... Boulder scrambling at Indian Cove (my profile pic is from that hike), 49 Palms Oasis (go early, it's popular) both in the north. Cottonwood Springs in the south... Too many to list.
