I really want to go back for skiing, but we did the drive up and the lookout while in Lake Placid, and it was absolutely worth it. I would also like to go back and hike up, but that's more than a one day event. :)

Don't plan on staying... a population of around thirty, it's more for the seeing the view.

LOTS of hiking to do here. The Adirondacks is the largest park in the lower 48 (like, 6 million acres big...), and there's plenty of hiking to do. Check out the 46ers (people who have hiked the 46 High Peaks (all near or well over 4000 feet) of the 'dacks). We climbed Mt. Haystack, the third highest, and had a great time doing it. The views from the tops are spectacular, and the hiking ranges from the very easy to the very difficult throughout the Park.
