Ask from the tourist office. Sarajevo is a combination of eastern and western culture and a worth for a visit. Actually, you just need to go there and live it by yourself. Don't forget to go to the War museum tunnel, where you can visit the wartime exit tunnel going under the Sarajevo Airport.

Go to the end of Bascarsija and you'll find some unique boutiques surrounded by Turkish Coffee shops. Little streets are full of boutiques with souvenirs and some local handicrafts. This is the place to bargain! And when I say souvenir, I don't mean the usual shit you get from Canary Islands. So this is not the place to buy "My friend went to Sarajevo and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" shirts... This is a good place to see how the eastern culture effects in Sarajevo. You will feel like somewhere far away from middle Europe.
