In San Cristobal, the place to sleep (and party!) is Magic Hostel. It's situated from a walking distance from the main square and offers cheap accodomation in dorms and private rooms. Staff is very relaxed and easy going and the rooms are clean. Hostel has a big courtyard with hammocks. Great place to get to know other travellers!

Best place to shop some local products in San Cristobal is the Templo de Santo Domingo and its surroundings. Local people from the villages surrounding San Cristobal come to sell clothes and Zapatista dolls to the big market outside the temple. Not a boutique, but something definately better...
