I love to see the available hotels on the map. I move and zoom the map a lot. It's so easy to filter out the hotels that are too far from my preferred location. I also like seeing the hotel prices at a glance on the map markers.

Nice place to live for a while... some skiing, hiking and camping nearby (1 hr). Very good for film and photography buffs. Easy access to Adirondacks, Letchworth and Allegany State Parks. Toronto is 4 hours, NYC is 6 hrs or a 100 dollar flight, Cleveland and Pittsburgh are within 5 hours. Snow is deep in Jan - Apr, but it's not as bad as you think. I promise :)
