I love to see the available hotels on the map. I move and zoom the map a lot. It's so easy to filter out the hotels that are too far from my preferred location. I also like seeing the hotel prices at a glance on the map markers.

...update: not the _only_ reason. Savonlinna also hosts annual opera festivals, in the castle, though. The surrounding lake country is also breath-takingly beautiful. Take a daytrip to punkaharju as well.

Wonderful hotel, restaurant and... vacation area... Hotel and amazing restaurant are located in pink building. But on a beach they have sauna, tennis court, beach volley court and cheap simple cottages. Just perfect way to spend summer holiday in Finland!

Perhaps the coolest medieval castle in Finland and definitely the best guided tours. One might even say that Olavinlinna is the only reason to go to Savonlinna and definitely worth the visit if you're close by.

A local girl recommended this bar for us so we went to check it out - and were happy that we did. The DJ played good music varying from YUP to The Doors to smooth jazz rhythms. At least on a summer saturday packed with young people.

In Kerimäki there is nothing except for this biggest wooden church. It's ok for a church and worth visiting if you're driving by for some reason. Don't bother traveling here for this reason only, though.

The Savonlinna Opera Festival proved to be a much better experience than I anticipated. The Olavinlinna castle provides excellent premises and the atmosphere is relaxed. Savonlinna is a nice city. :-)

Huge cliff in middle of fairytale forrest. Amazing place. Good place for climbing. You can also find quite big cave here. Rock can be seen from nearby harbor.
