Every tourist resort should have a town nearby, yet far enough to make most tourists stay in the hotel area - in Almeria´s case Roquetas de Mar. Almeria is simply a medium-size Spanish town, very Spanish indeed, and big enough to keep tourists a small minority on the streets and in the shops. Quite nice, but not spectacular.

If you´re interested in late Roman times, the manor ruins at Seeb, north of Zurich airport, are a must! This is a well-preserved site, giving a clear picture of the layout of buildings and their respective use.
