Berlin's architecture is quite varied: though badly damaged in the final years of World War II, Berlin has reconstructed itself greatly, and it is now possible to see representatives of many different historic periods in a short time within the compact city center, from a few surviving medieval buildings near Alexanderplatz, to the ultramodern glass and steel structures in Potsdamer Platz. Venice , Italy (Venezia in Italian) is still one of the most interesting and lovely places in the world. This sanctuary on a lagoon is virtually the same as it was five hundred years ago, which adds to the fascinating character. Venice has certainly begun to decay since its heyday and is heavily touristed (there are slightly more tourists than residents)-- but the romantic charm remains. More info | Close

Rent an apartment in Paris to see in 2011
After a less-than-great 2010, my partner and I are looking for 2011 to bring a change of circumstances. So, to get things off to what we hope will literally be a sparkling start, we’ll be seeing in the New Year in the City of Light – we’ve booked a rented apartment in Paris, thanks to a company called My Apartment in Paris.
