If you're coming to Denver, make time to check out the eclectic neighborhoods vs. just spending time in the touristy places like the 16th Street Mall, etc.
Spend some time in the Highlands (NOT Highlands Ranch, the 'burb). This 'hood's epicenter is 32nd & Lowell. Map it.
Also check out Platt Park. Specifically, the shops and restaurants on South Pearl Street, from about 1200 S. Pearl to about 1800 S. Pearl. Awesome farmers market on Sunday mornings, best non-coastal sushi restaurant on the planet (Sushi Den), and cool shops.
Also check out Washington Park - specifically Old South Gaylord street.
Enjoy!

Check out the SOFA neighborhood. It was an industrial area that has largely been converted to lofts and condos. Lots of beautiful old buildings that retain the architectural details of the times. One cool thing i noticed is that many buildings have doors on the 2nd floor, that seem that they must dump people out for a 1-story fall. I think they said it was either because of snow, or because they moved the level of the street... forget which...

The city itself is alright, though if you in the area, i'd recommend cathing a 40 minute bus ride to Boulder, CO

I was born and raised in the Metro area and could very well live here for the rest of my life. I never tire of viewing the snow-capped peaks (yes, there are some that stay snow-capped year round). Denver is perfectly situated in that you are a very short drive away from spectacular views and awesome venues for outdoor recreation. They don't call Colorado "America's backyard" for nothin'. The city offers awesome experiences as well. There is too much to write about, but I can assure that Denver has it all-- well, except oxygen.

One of the nicer airports, at least in the late evening when there are only few people around. Seems to be far away from everywhere - even the airport hotel was 20 mins drive away...

In the Farmers Market, local farmers sell their produce, such as all kinds of chili in various forms, "the best organic" peaches, etc. on Sunday mornings. It looked like the whole neighborhood had come to the short strip of street to do some shopping and, mostly, meet up with friends...

We visited the park on a sunny Sunday. The place was great - there were a number of people playing various games: tennis, basketball, volleyball or biking or roller skating on the paved roads crisscrossing the park. Seemed like this is Denver's equivalent of the Central Park.

The museum displays Colorado's imagination inspiring history from the early days of mammoth and giant bears via wild west to modern days. Especially I liked the many skillfully crafted dioramas, depicting settings from Anasazi's Mesa Verde to gold digger's camp. The dioramas alone are a good reason to go visit the museum.
