A decent 4 star hotel. Location is great, you can walk anywhere in the center in 5 minutes. It's quite noisy though, people tend to shout under the windows when the bars close. If you're one of the shouters it's a great choice. If you like to sleep in the nights you might want to consider earplugs.

Reykjavik and Iceland in general is definitly worth visting, I have been twice and luckily got an opportunity to rent a car and drive along the coast. The most beautiful place I've been to is Dyrholaoy, a cliff at the southern coast with a "hole for animals". Steep, 130 metres above sea level and you want to try your wings... ;-) Blue Lagoon not far from the airport is worth a visit also, and the geysir is one corner of the golden triangle.

Even though it's rather expensive to drink in Iceland you must experience the nightlife of Reykjavík! It's world famous and not without a reason; friendly faces, extraordinary atmosphere, people having a laugh together... absolutely splendid.

All the whale spotting tours go from the harbor. There are many companies organizing them. Can't say if there are any differences but the one we went on was ok. We did see some minky whales and white beak dolphins. They didn't come too close to the boat though so mostly you just saw some fins and a part of the back. Up north there supposedly also blue whales and other bigger whales so if you're really into whale spotting you should perhaps drive up north and book a tour there.
Taking the tour from Reykjavik is cool still as the sun doesn't really set in the night and all that.

Different.

Why is it different? Do you mean whole Iceland, or just Reaykjavik there?

The best views of the city. If you're cheap you can go up without paying. At least there was no one checking the tickets. It really windy up there.

If you didn't know how Iceland got colonized and who were the crazy people that wanted to stay there this is the place to find out. A great exhibition about the history of the island.

This place is surreal. It's cold and raining but you can swim outside. The water is 37-39 celcius, i.e. a bit warmer than your body. You can sip a drink sitting in the warm water while your head gets its share of the rain and cold. A strange experience but strange in a good way.

If you happen to be in Reykjavik on a sunny and warm day (they do happen) then this is the restaurant to go to. Not because of the food even though their brunch is great both in quality and quantity. You really want to go there because of the terrace. It has several tables and the sun shines there right around noon. Most of the other restaurants had one table at most or no terrace at all. No surprise it was totally crowded all the time.

The best burgers in Reykjavik, no doubt. The Beast especially. They do have a large menu of other stuff as well for those who don't eat burgers for some strange reason.
