About Ahr Valley

The steep and narrow alley of river Ahr, all the way from Marienthal to Ahrbruck, can be covered with highly scenic walk via the Red Wine Hiking Trail, winding through the extremely deep vineyards in a breathtaking setting. Both cities are connected with Bonn and other surrounding cities by a fast and frequent train connection.

I liked very much this city. It is very pleasant to walk in the car-free streets in the historical city center. Don't be shy to discover the area around the center where most of the ambassies, consulates were or are still sitting. Take the time to go to the Villa Hammerschmidt and the Palace Schaumburg in the former house of the german Chancellor.

Unlike the city, the train station is pretty awful. Architecture wise, it's a disaster but the station is very close to the city center so you can easily forget about it as soon as you enter the streets.
