About Udaipur elsewhere

"When it comes to Udaipur's fine-dining experiences, you can spend an evening at the Lake Palace Hotel ,where you can order a cocktail and settle on the "deck" to watch beautiful young Rajasthani women twirl to a hypnotic drumbeat (if your attention starts to wander, take in the sublime views of the City Palace turning pink) before retiring to the regal dining room for a sumptuous buffet, which we found a tad overpriced at Rs 1,500 (USD35) per person."

"I would go via train from Delhi (spend 1 1/2 week in Rajasthan) to Agra, Pushkar, Johdpur, Udaipur then to Bombay airport, fly to Kerala, (1 1/2 week in south) fly back to Delhi."

"The sprawling City Palace complex (Rajasthan's biggest palace) is comprised of several opulent hotels and museums: the City Palace Museum houses an assorted collection of royal objects, including historic weapons and superb miniature paintings, while the Crystal Gallery, which looks onto a large plush hall (decked out with massive chandeliers), contains priceless crystal pieces including beds."
