The hotel is located some 3 kilometers from Courmayeur centre and the cabin lift. They have a free minibus from the hotel to downtown. Otherwise just another accommodation, but they have a small gym and sauna, which is definitely a big plus! :-)

When the weather is bad in France side of Mont Blanc it just might be perfect day to go trough tunnel to Italy and Courtmayer, and get cabin up to 3300m and Mer de Glace. Better hire a guide if you're not pro.

Our route to Courmayeur went through Aosta and we stopped by to check the town as a potential place to stay when visiting Cervinia. The old town, piazza and pedestrian areas were pictoresque but overall the town was a bit shabby and under construction.

The best skiing place in Europe, in my limited experience. Meribel is part of Les Trois Vallees so there are lots of slopes for beginners and experts. And of course in France maintenance is good.

Thanks for the tip. I took the liberty of adding it to Snowboarding group, so hope you don't mind!

A taxi service in Courmayeur. The price level (about): 10 minutes ride was EUR 25.

I wouldn't want to accommodate myself in one of the most ugly villages in the Alps. Forget it!
