De facto budget traveler's choice in Hong Kong. The building definitely doesn't look inviting, but inside you can find as many as 80 "guest houses" - apartments transformed into guest rooms.
I stayed at "New Harbour Guest House" at Block C - clean rooms, some with own bathroom. I left some of my luggage there for 2 weeks for 200HKD. No problems at all!

I'd say go hiking the Dragon's Back trail (the best urban hike http://www.time.com/time/asia/2004/boa/boa_body_hike.html ). But outdoorsy hiking may be difficult on a transit - just strolling in the waterfront gives some idea of HK's hustle and bustle...
