Savutuvan Apaja, located at Haapaniemi, near Jyväskylä, is an extraordinary achievement and a display of true effort by the Apponen family. They have carefully collected some thirty old farm buildings from around Central Finland, and created an attractive and historically authentic community, ready for exploration and roots-searching.
The location offers an excellent setting for family gatherings and celebrations, sauna evenings, meetings and tourist visits from Finland and abroad. Even the meals served are authentic Finnish meals, paying tribute to Finnish traditional cuisine.
As a summer attraction it is particularly enchanting, and can also be reached by boat from Jyväskylä.
