South Padre Island is one of the nation's premiere Spring Break destinations. It features hot weather, cool winds, and never ending surf. While people love the soft sands of South Padre, and the great tourist destinations, many go to South Padre for the easy access to Mexico. Right across the border from South Padre, many places in Mexico offer cheap all you can drink specials. Also, the drinking age in Mexico is 18. South Padre is a fun destination, but it can be overwhelming for families during Spring Break. This is a destination for the partying college crowd, which can be too noisy for the family that wants to relax. If you are looking for a relaxing beach, North Padre Island is a better alternative. For the partying crowd, South Padre Island is where it is at. This has been the site for many MTV Spring Break specials.
