Walking by Rambla to the sea. The big shopping hall is amazing, worth of visiting.

An impressive building, different from any church or cathedral you've ever seen and a must-see in Barcelona. The modern, more recently constructed parts of the cathedral seem odd, but show well the difficulty of continuing the work without any detailed idea of the architects vision. I strongly recommend climbing up the towers - view over barcelona is great! Also interesting is the exhibition of Gaudi's design process and revolutionary ideas - for example the arches are actually modeled upside down using a thread model with tiny hanging weights to simulate gravitation. In the model, the arch settles to a position that supports the structure most efficiently.

I wisited Sagrada Familia in February 2007. That time the entrance fee was 10€ and did not include elevatr trip to the top. However that is worth paying if the queue is not too bad and it is a clear day.

Another aspect to keep in mind is that everyone comes to this place so it gets crowded. Go early.

One of my most favorite cities in the world. Shopping, large beach, good food, nightlife, brilliant architecture and sights all packed into one. Be sure to eat lunch at Cal Pep, one of the best tapas places in town.

If you like tapas, stop by Quimet y Quimet in Poble Sec. It's probably my favorite tapas place in Barcelona!

Go here to start your night with some nice sandwiches and a bottle - or two - of Cava (3€/bottle...).

I visited Barcelona a couple of years ago. It was in the middle of juli. I fell in love with the city´s architecture. There are some awesome buildings in city center and especially this Park Güell was stunning. I recommend you to see the movie Vicky Christina Barcelona, there are some great sceens from Barcelona!

One of _the_ spots for skateboarders in Barcelona... all Futurama fans should also go and see the really great graffiti of Futurame's darverse

Antoni Gaudí is one of the few architects, whose style even I can recognize. Sagrada Familia is among the strangest buildings I've seen. Finally a church with some imagination. :-) It's good to have a pint at one of the bars next to the building and just look at the building, trying to guess what was on Gaudi's mind when he was drawing the spires or decorations.

The bikes they rent are in ok condition 'cruisers'. The bike tours start daily at 11am and 4pm in the nearby Plaza Sant Jaume (just show up). Renting a bike costs 15€/day + 10€/extra day (they also rent by the hr).

Barcelona is one of the best party cities in Europe for sure. And a nice place otherwise as well. Just look out for the pick pockets!

Perhaps the most famous sight in Barcelona but really not much of a sight. Sure, the architecture is interesting and it has been under construction for a long time but still it is just a church. You've seen a zillion of those. If you're near by, check it out but don't go over your head to get there. It's not that great.

I wonder if they ever finish this.. Maybe one of the things that make this famous is that it has been built for over 100 years. Amazing piece of work with all the details and architecture, take the metro to see it and spend a couple of hours just wondering. There are cafes nearby so you can enjoy some drinks while you're at it.

A nice view overlooking Barcelona. Take the bus here or do as we did and grab a taxi straight from the beach ;-). Buses leave from the main square at the end of La Rambla. There's a church on the top of the hill and a small amusement park below. There's also a cafe, but the Hamburgers aren't that great..

La Rambla.. perhaps the most famous street in Barcelona. Once a quiet street inhabited by artists and the like and now a tourist street that has something going on 24h a day every day of the week. Daytime you can see a lot of performance artists imitating statues, trees, demons, butterflies and what not. They attract an audience and do their thing once you give them money. Be careful, the audience also attracts pickpockets..

Rambla also has the most expensive beer and food probably in the whole of Barcelona, so if you want something less expensive (and probably better) go out a bit.

The old town around the cathedral is nice place to wander around and maybe stop by for a coffee. Tall old buildings, narrow alleys and beautiful market squares.

Watch out fot thieves..

If you have only one hour for Casa Mila, spend it on the roof. If you have two, take your time on the roof.

Hotel Icaria's location is quite good. Just a 5 minute walk from the beach and about 10 mins from the metro station. WLAN works in most rooms.

The whole city is great fun for a long weekend.

This was a surprise for me. I expected it to be a bit tacky and it really is pretty amazing, especially if you view it from above. Arrive early to grab a seat at the chiringuito (little open air cafe) right beside the fountain. Click the link for more info.

If you like Gaudi's work then check this out. One of the must see places in Barcelona for all Gaudi fans, lots of nice architecture. On a nice day it's fun to look around.

A fabulous building by Gaudi. if you at all like architecture of Gaudi's work, you must check this out. Incredible piece of work. The chimneys on the roof appear in several postcards and pictures of Gaudi's work. Getting there is easy, just walk up from El Corte Ingles, do some shopping or have some tapas on your way up, there are several nice boutiques and cafes.

Get ready for queuing... This place can be a mess sometimes.

Very convenient location in the old town. The nearest metro stop is very close by... And many interesting places are within walking distance.

Placa de Catalunya was a great place to have a few beers before hitting the bars. At least on a warm saturday evening / night there were a lot of young people playing music, skateboarding, having some wine, etc...

The military museum is located on the top of the Montjuic (inside the Castell de Montjuic). There's a great view to the harbour and over Barcelona!

If you don't want to go to the bars in the Olympic Port you should try the Casino.

A conveniently located restaurant in the Born area near the bars and clubs. Ate good pasta here and then moved on to the nightlife. :-)

We thought that we should visit at least one museum on our road trip and ended up going to Picasso Museum. The museum is great. First: they display such a collection from various years of Picasso that it's possible to follow the evolution of his style. Second: they have a nice bar, where a glass or two of red wine is served quickly and at a reasonable price. These two features together almost helped me understand Picasso's art.

OK city. Too much traffic. Airport not nice. Expensive prices everywhere.

I had about two days to visit all the boutiques along the La Rambla. Almost every second one is a shoe boutique and I bought three pair of shoes :D Like leo already said, the performance artists imitating statues are quite funny and interesting. Had to have a picture with them :D

I have this strange need to visit all the Olympic stadiums so I have been here also :) This time I didn't go in here so actually I don't know how it looks like, but the surroundings are interesting. You can see quite far away to the hills and there you can see all kinds of buildings. The place kind of reminded me from the original Olympic games in Greece. Well obviosly I didn't live then but anycase :) Maybe someone else knows more about this places' history?

Every football or soccer fan should visit here! And if FC Barcelona is playing, even better. The place is actually really breath-taking, when the whole stadium is full. We visited there when Barcelona was playing against Benfica and the atmosphere was unbelievable. I can't imagine how it must be, when Barce is playing against Real Madrid!

Everybody said that it is impossible to get tickets to the game, but we bought them straight from the gates an hour before the game. (Only 90 euros :P)

If you like colorful things and you are renovating your kitchen, this is great place to get ideas :D Gaudis mosaic art is something I really would like to see in my kitchen, in stead of those old pink doors..

In a sunny day the view from the edge of the park is stunning. Well, maybe it looked a bit foggy but I didn't mind :)

There is also a shop in Camp Nou. The shop is in two storeys. It took about an hour to get out the shop, because there was so much to buy. If you have football fans in your family and you have to buy presents to them from your trip, this a good place to shop them. Especially if they are FC Barcelona fans. If they are Real Madrid fans, this could be a bad choice :D

You might get the stuff cheaper some where, but I couldn't manage to get out from there with out buying something (I guess you count 100 euros to buying "something"? :P).

The unfinish church is unparallel in design. Visit during low season and watch out for pick pocketers.

Take the afternoon off, go buy some groceries and enjoy a picnic in the park

Besides Gaudi's architecture, don't miss Mies van der Rohe's pavilion. Peace and harm!

Great place to spend an afternoon.. the buskers are phenomenal. Great bargains along the way and outdoor cafes to just enjoy a glass of wine and watch the world go by.

Is really a very nice zoo. Snowflake of course isn't there anymore, but I visited in 2003, when he was still alive. We got really soaked in the warm early October rain.

What a waste! 5 years in Barcelona without having discovered this restaurant and it’s a true gem.
The principal of La Paradeta is simple. It’s all about seafood: fresh, quality seafood caught by the restaurant’s own boat and then displayed as if in a fish market, ready for you to choose exactly what and how much you want to eat. It’s a bit like being in La Boquería but without the wait before you can start eating and the great thing is that you really see the quality of what you are buying.
The restaurant itself is of the relaxed café-style that the Spanish and Catalans do so well. Having no waiters and owning their own fishing boat means that they are able to cut some of the cost out of the process. So the pricing is very, very reasonable and very fair as you pay by weight.
It may have taken me 5 years to visit La Paradeta but the same cannot be said of the local population. The place gets busy, and early. The good thing is that the queues move fast, with plenty of tables inside and a buzzing but relaxed atmosphere that wants to make you keep going for the evening rather than slip into a carb-induced food coma.
So I think you get it. I am a total convert to the cult of La Paradeta and if you get a chance to pay a visit, I have no doubt that you will end up as one too.

Regarding how to get between Terminals 1 and 2 at Barcelona El Prat Airport:
- The T1-T2 Shuttle: Every 6 or 7 minutes a bus links T2 (the bus stop is located by the intermodal building) with arrivals (ground floor) and departures (3rd floor) in T1. The journey takes 10 minutes.
- From T1- Renfe Train Station T2 Shuttle: Coinciding with the arrival of trains (every 30 minutes), a bus links the Renfe train station in T2 with departures (3rd floor) in T1. The journey takes 10 minutes.

La Boqueria on Las Ramblas in Barcelona is actually the better known name for the Sant Josep Market. With its huge offering of fruit, veg, fish and meat for sale it must surely be a candidate for the best food market in the world. It opens at 8am and closes at 8.30pm, every day except Sunday.
