A fun thing to do in Japan is to get a thorough massage by one of those wild-looking robotic chairs that will enfold you almost completely from head to toe. Usually you can find them in great number at the home appliance sections in shopping malls. Many Japanese would go there after work for a relaxing time.

From the outside the castle is great, and the park around the castle is nice. From the inside it's horrible, totally renovated, plastic-stuff everywhere.
If you want to see an old japanese castle, you're much better off heading to Himeji (still in its old form, was not bombed in ww2), which is not too far from Osaka by shinkansen.

Haha! This is so funny. Are there actually several cafe's with puppies? :D
jessroche replied 3 years, 5 months ago:
I don't know how many. I'm sure there's more than one. Dotombori isn't that big, but it's jammed packed. There's one main strip, look for a poster of a large brown puppy with over-sized eyes & go upstairs, it's not far from one end of the strip. It's so funny, I'll have to put a photo up for you :-)

This sounds so cool :) I like especially that you said "puppy with over-sized eyes". I can see the puppyface in my eyes.

The park is great way to see Osaka. On a (very) hot day we strolled around in the park, avoiding Osaka city's busy streets and enjoying the peace and quiet. The park provides a nice contrast between the park's human-size architecture and the buzzling Osaka downtown with skyscrapers and lots of people.

The acquarium was amazing, one of the best I have been to. They have a whale shark!

Check out the Floating Garden Observatory in the amazing Umeda Sky Building for a stunning view over town, but only if you don't suffer from aerophobia. Follow the waterfall to a small city underground for great food and exciting shops.

Once you've visited this beautiful shrine, you think the other ones are just smaller copies.
Don't forget to visit the trail up to the mountain to smaller shrines. The path is covered with hundreds and hundreds of torii. At the main temple, on the left side, take the short stairs up and then follow the short stairs on the right. You'll land at the entrance of the beautiful path.
