One of the biggest factory outlet is located in Meitzingen. The whole outlet area is based on Hugo Boss factory, but during the years all the luxury brands have arrived to town and set up their own outlet stores.

Go to the tower of railway station (Hauptbahnhof). Nice view over downtown and it's free of charge.

This is the largest Oktoberfest outside of Munich. Held at the same time as the Munich fest it has only 4 or 5 of the monster beer tents, but it has all the rides as well as a market. The advantage over Munich is that it is possible to actually find a table to sit at instead of the overcrowding in Munich. Make no mistake however, the tents get crowded with the ompah bands, singing and beer steins; but you can find a place to sit and join in.

Stuttgart is a nice little city. It's got this small town vibe but it really is quite big. My best tip for foreigners is the great German and Austrian musicals presented every year. If you do go, make sure you book hotels in advance as hotels in Stuttgart near the venues tend to be very frequented.
