What is Mendocino
A favorite weekend getaway for Northern California Bay Area residents, the town of Mendocino is located on the coast of Mendocino County. The town has long been a haven for artists, and is famous for its art galleries as well as its restaurants and trendy shops. It is smaller and more "refined" than its blue collar neighbor to the North, Fort Bragg.

Charming town with lots to do outdoors. You can kayak--we did and were followed by a couple of sea lons that were adorable. Also horseback riding and some hiking. We loved it with the kids. Good restaurants and places to stay. I have to remember the name of the hotel but it had little cottages and there were donkeys on the property and a GIANT chess set in the garden.
