A great place during winter for both sports and photography. You can do most of the "usual" winter things: skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiles, snowshoe walks, after ski :) and so on. There is a good variety of slopes for both the more experienced skiers and the not-so-experienced. Ruka attracts a lot of tourists tho, so be wary of the ones who come down the hill too fast when you are looking the other way in the lift queue.

Most of the restaurants, bars and shops are situated on one side of the hill and if your cabin happens to be on the other side, remember to find out about transportation. The resort offers a good choice of restaurants whether you are looking for a long dinner with fondue or a plate of chicken wings.

Great place for skiing and snowboarding and not that far up north. The resort will be open about 250 days every year.

Ruka Battery Park is one of the best shaped parks in Scandinavia.

I love this winter wonderland! It's like Narnia, and there's so many things you can do in here, besides skiing ofcourse. The best way to find cheap accommodation is to get all your friends together and rent a cottage!! They're wonderful!

Ruka itself is one of the most famous ski centers in Finland, but there is something that everyone doesn't know. There you can find the longest summer sled track in Finland and that is really worth trying! Ruka has also many other activities in summer, for example summer skiing, canoeing and bear watching. But the best one is of course that summer sled track!

Lots of snow and a beautiful nature. Cross-country skiing trails are a bit too challenging for me, but they are really dapper. If you love partying, you will like Ruka. There are lots of nice bars and restaurants, sporty people etc ;)

If you want to have the best game dishes in Finland, you should go to Riipinen's. No matter if it's reindeer, elk, rabbit, birds or even bear, Riipinen does it best.

I'm going to Ruka next week and I found a very affordable hotel Hotelli Kuusanki. It was only 62 euros per night. Now I only have to wait and see, what the hotel is like :)
