There is a festival in Kotka each summer called Kotkan Meripäivät. In case you like festivals when the streets are filled with drunken people you should love the event. If you're like me, stay away from Kotka then. There really is no other reason either to go there...

Right next to downtown Hamina is it's guest boat harbour.... if you just happen to have your windsurfing gear with you on a boat ;o) you are upto a pretty nice flat water ride on westerly, southerly and propably even on easterly winds.
On southerly winds you can start straight from the boat ramp, but beware of the lurking rocks outside of quite narrow boat channel. Otherwise walk a hundred meter straight to the small "beach".
Btw, the "official" spot for Windsurfing in Hamina is Pitkähiekat (HAMINA CAMPING PITKÄHIEKAT
Vilniementie 375, 49400 HAMINA)

Old wooden houses at the center of the town. Nice. Streets build to circle, interesting...different.
