In Grindelwald best short hike short hike is taking cable car to First and hiking to Bachalpsee, to extend trip hike either up or down the mountain.
Another excellent hike is to take cog railway to Kleine Scheidegg, take the easy 90 minute hike to Mannlichen, and then long hike down mountain to Grindelwald.

On our stay in Interlaken we decided to do some hiking on the alpine routes. The views were magnificient in the sunny weather while we were climbing up the lower route to the glaciers. A cable car ride would have been possible, but now on hindersight I think hiking was the right choice. It took some hours and wasn't always easy, but it was an Experience. And for our return trip we were able to hop on the Jungfraujoch train from one of the middle stations and sit back on the easy scenic route.
