What is Guangzhou

Guangzhou (广州 Guǎngzhōu or just simply GZ) is the capital of Guangdong Province in Southern China and has a population of over 10 million (The official registered population is 7.3 million, with over 3 million unregistered residents). It is adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau. In the era of tea clippers, Guangzhou was known in the West as "Canton". The food and the language of the area are still known as "Cantonese", and the airport code is CAN.

Dispite staying in a nice business class hotel, the street never quite from horns, never empty of bikes and the markets never close to shoppers looking from live snakes and eels for meals. But in a back alley behind a typical dinner, two men wait to receive and unauthorized shipment of Bibles. 600 books and 12 cassettes, contraband, in the mainland, but life bread and education for the many house church still underground in most of China. What tourist found it worthwhile to travel to Guangzhou for one night.? 60 teenagers from California will never forget the sights and sounds of Guangzhou and will never stop wondering, who may be reading the very book once concealed in the shorts of a kid passing through customs on a three day visa to China, who's courage came from an American Passort and a pray.

The Guangdong Victory Hotel (Guangdong Shengli Binguan) is located on Shamian Island, surrounded by lush gardens, while still offering convenient transportation links to the city.
