I head to Edinburgh at least twice a year - once for the Festival and once to see friends! My advice is if you don't want an arduous train journey there then it's ok because cheap airlines like Easy Jet and Ryan Air fly there on a daily basis. I still like to book a couple of months in advance, but then maybe that's just me!

The castle is located on a steep cliff. On a sunny day we had a great view over the city and the nearby fjord. The castle itself is great but its location is even better. We also enjoyed the nearby Whisky heritage center with its huge selection of whisky.
