It is worth skipping the railroad or hiking options and driving to the summit via the Pikes Peak Highway imagining you're driving Ari Vatanen's Peugeot 405 in the International Hillclimb Race (see the link). Though most of the road is nowadays paved, I can guarantee it's a thrill to drive up and down the road: great scenery, curves, series of switchbacks, no railings... I was testing my limits with an Infiniti G37 Sport - and scared s**tless... ;)
