A nice day trip to an old castle that was meant to be a copy of Versailles but was never completed as King Ludwig II ran out of money and later died in shady circumstances. It is one of the three castles he built of which the most famous is Neuschwanstein. The Chiemsee castle was the last and also the most expensive he built, costing him more than the two previous together, over 350 million euros in current value. Well worth a day's trip if you're close by.

A bavarian era palace that was meant to be an exact replica of Versailles, only bigger. Due to lack of funding, it was never completed. Even in it's current state, it's a must see for everyone that loves old castles, history and art.
