What is Cambridge

Cambridge is a university city in Cambridgeshire in England. It's a city of crocuses and daffodils on the Backs, of green open spaces and cattle grazing only 500 yards from the market square... The Cambridge of Brooke, Byron, Newton and Rutherford, of the summer idyll of punts, 'bumps', cool willows and May Balls.

About Cambridge elsewhere

"In spite of this few will want to miss King's College with its fabulous perpendicular style chapel."
world66.com

"Cambridge brings many images to mind: the breathtaking view of King's College Chapel from across the river Cam, the rich intricacy of Gothic architecture, students cycling to lectures, and lazy summer punting on the River Cam."
wikitravel.org

"The Cambridge skyline is dominated by the last two, along with the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital in the far south of the city and St John's College Chapel tower in the north."

Take the time to visit the old university. Try to imagine what happened in the world at that time. You'll be shocked.

Nice university town. Picknick lawns and student performances.

Obviously this college city is very old. I love to get transported back in time of the fantastic discoveries that have been made here (evolution theorie by Darwin, Law of gravitation by Newton, DNA molecule by Watson & Crick...).
To my opinion, the best moment to visit cambridge would be in fall or early spring so most of the colleges are open with very fey tourists to bother you.

Stay at the University Arms (pricey, but o-so-nice) and spend an evening or two walking around the ancient colleges, take a stroll along the river Cam - and you´ll regret you studied somewhere else!

Be careful not to go swimming naked into river cam even after dared by friends and lured by their cash offer. Natives won't look it too good.
