The Aldstadt area of Dusseldorf is packed with small bars and restaurants. The area and especially the Bolkerstrasse has a reputation of being the longest bar in Europe.

To the point! If you go up to the tower, you should also get a good overview of the city, and the best part is that it's not even that expensive! :)

Go to the Aldstadt, find one of the great breweries, enjoy an alt bier and watch the street turn into a big party.

Best city on earth! The longer you stay, the more you'll like it.

This huge gothic cathedral, Kölner Dom, is the central point of the whole city. Its endlessly tall towers and impressive facade dominate the whole city center. Inside you will find slender nave and endless amount of religious treasures.

An exceptional museum housing one of the worlds biggest collections of glassware and jewellery from Roman area. But the most impressive element is anyway the vast Roman mosaic about the world of Dionysus.

I liked very much this city. It is very pleasant to walk in the car-free streets in the historical city center. Don't be shy to discover the area around the center where most of the ambassies, consulates were or are still sitting. Take the time to go to the Villa Hammerschmidt and the Palace Schaumburg in the former house of the german Chancellor.

Unlike the city, the train station is pretty awful. Architecture wise, it's a disaster but the station is very close to the city center so you can easily forget about it as soon as you enter the streets.
raacluse from USA wrote about Wuppertal 4 years, 2 months ago
Wuppertal is famous for its suspended monorail, the Schwebebahn, the oldest monorail system in the world. (Actually, there is a slightly older, very short line, designed by the same guy, that goes up a hill in Dresden.)
Before you go, check ahead to find out if the system is closed for scheduled maintenance.
Wuppertal is also the home of the Pina Bausch dance troupe. It's also the birthplace of Friederich Engels (sidekick to Karl Marx).
