What is Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is a museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank, who hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the building. Interesting tour given! Its neat to see how small the houses are built in Amsterdam, because they are built depending on width, so they are very narrow.

juha

juha from Finland wrote about Anne Frank House one year, 8 months ago

You should definitely visit Anne Frank House when in Amsterdam. It quite a short tour but good. You'll see the small rooms in which they lived hiding from the nazis. Absolutely worth the small price and short wait.

Lots of small pubs and restaurants. This city has it going on, but beware of the bikethieves!

jussi

The Van Gogh museum is worth visiting: the location is convenient, the museum building itself is nice, and the collection is excellent (at least if you like impressionism)!

bustersdad

bustersdad wrote about Amsterdam one year, 10 months ago

The tourist map makes it appear that the Central Station is not close to the Van Gogh museum and other attractions. I was surprised in my wanderings that it is only about 30 minutes walk! There are lots of trams too!

It's a pretty good way of seeing the city and resting your feet for a while. It can be quite hot in the boat though.

Very nice place to live, looks kind of surreal.
I spent four days, but after two everything to be seen was pretty much covered.
The Rijksmusem was a rip-off, they are remodelling it so you only get to see what they call "The Masterpieces", for 10€ I expected a lot more.

Amsterdam marathon is a place to make your new record! Almost flat route is one of the fastest in the world (Haile Gebreselassie 2.06.20) and you avoid suffering from heat and dehydration as the marathon is held in October.

The arrangements are pretty good, but be prepared to queue everywhere. Make sure to arrive at least one day in advance to get your number. If possible, bring a disposable raincoat, trash bag or something else to keep you warm. Otherwise you will most likely freeze after fininsh when you are all sweaty (it might take a loooong time before you get your gear from luggage). Also, bring your own drinks unless you are not a friend of Gatorade. :)

Probably the best city in the whole Europe. Colorful, not too big, not mentally "dry" as the old historical cities. It's a modern Venice! Use the boats for sightseeing AND transportation.

Just stayed there 4 days, wonderful bedroom, big, huge window, awesome shower.
When I got there they gave me a room that was not ready, I complained and got another one right away.
Only the lobby, bar and business centre have free wi-fi.
It's not on the city centre, but it's walking distance or you can take the tram. It's pretty close to the museums.
There are nice restaurants around, but all very expensive since the hotel is located in an expensive area of the city.

Don't take a taxi if you arrive trough Centraal Station, the number 2 tram takes you to a stop 100 meters from the hotel, it's 1,6€ instead of around 20€!

Ah, the spirit of the red-light district... Not much spirit actually - there are just windows after windows and behind each window is a 'lady of the night' waiting for her next 'assignment'. One can't see this elsewhere, though, so it's worth visiting..

A great place to stay during your Amsterdam visit! The not-so-straight owner of a antique-boutique has several rooms nearby the Centraal station and is very willing to help you in any matter concerning Amsterdam. There are everything you need in the room from a wine-cooler-fridge to hairdryer and TV.

Actually this belongs to the group: Breath-Taking Places but this is a great part of the towns culture. Not suitable for sensitive or humourless people. The museum contains all the aspects of sex and porn from the beginning of times to this day. Thingies all over the place! Opening hours 9.30 am - 11.30 pm

Martsu

Amsterdam is a nice city, with lots to offer. One might say that the best restaurant in Amsterdam is the Hard Rock Café. Delicious meals and good service, are the reasons, why people visit it time after time. Hard Rock Café is situated in the middle of Leidseplein square and Vondelpark, and there is a Hard Rock Café shop in the same building.

Just visited A'dam couple of weeks ago and I have to say I fell in love with the city. Plenty of see and do, people are friendly, lots of lovely small pubs and restaurants and the nightlife is full of passion.

Have to recommend the different museums (if you have time, visit them all), Red-Light District, Vondelpark, and of course the restaurants.

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. There is an impressive architecture, lovely canals that crisscross the city, great shopping, and friendly people who nearly all speak English well. Amsterdam is a very popular destination. This city is most historic, wealthy, influential, and most popular for its attractions, destinations, nightlife, and accommodation facilities like hotels. I found this great accommodation from an online reservation hotels site which gives me a list of cheap hotels in amsterdam with all the facilities at discount offer. I reached that city by airplane at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This airport was most attractive and well organized. But I hire taxi and reached to my hotel at noon. Hotel was well furnished and good facilities were available there. I put my bags in room and get fresh and take lunch. After lunch I went to see the Oude Kerk churches. There is a oldest churches in the historic center of Amsterdam. It is very beautiful churches. There are five churches in the city as well as Wester kerk, Noorder kerk, Oude Kerk, Nieuwe Kerk and Zuiderkerk. But out of these churches Oude Kerk was most famous. These churches open April to September on Saturday & Sunday, every half-hour which also open in the winter by group appointment. After that I went to see the Museum of the Amsterdam School and Diamond Museum is a very beautiful museum which was very nice with latest collections of diamond, which was very nice with many exhibits. In the evening I came back to hotel. The second day I went to see the Vondel Park is good of attraction situated at Center Square area and another Park Playhouse which was also good attraction in that place. There are many beautiful flowers are available. This is also good attractive place. In noon I went for lunch in the restaurants where I take some pizza and light food. After that I went to see the beaches is a good enjoyment of life. In the evening I went to Mulligans Irish Music Bar for entertainment here I got food at right price and other fun of night life which is the oldest Irish bar in Amsterdam, Mulligans has live music most nights and I hire taxi and get back to my hotel. Third day I visit to the in market for shopping in central shopping streets where I bought some clothes, gifts, chocolates goods. After shopping I came back to hotel where I leave my room and went to airport for leaving this city. While returning back, I remembered my all day to which them I spend in this city.
