About Salta elsewhere
"90km (56 miles) S of San Salvador de Jujuy, 1,497km (928 miles) N of Buenos Aires; 1,268km (786 miles) N of Mendoza."
"Hi everybody, Hoping to get your help for a trip to Buenos Aires that my husband and I are taking from May 27 2007 to June 10."
"The capital city Buenos Aires is the center of the country in all ways except its geographical location."
"Güemes was then left to his own devices, as San Martín was forced to stay in Chile for three years and Belgrano was recalled to Santa Fe Province to fight the federalist supporters of José Gervasio Artigas on behalf of the centralist government of Buenos Aires, now presided by Rondeau."
Salta is a great small town and with lot less humidity than Buenos Aires.. A break from that was just what I needed :) But anyway.. You should visit this mountain just next to the town. You can take this cable car elevator and enjoy your way up the mountain :) It only cost about 30 pesos per person. Nice view to the town!
I went to a few days trip to Salta in North Argentina and stumbled across on this restaurant called Don Jose. The place is very traditional beef place with charismatic men waiters. The food was so delicious that me and my boyfriend had to go there again and ordered some more beef :) Here's a pic.. (Look at the size! The smaller one is almost half the bigger than my fist..)
Usually when you order for example beef in restaurants, you only get the beef. So remember to ask if the portion is with potatoes or salad. French fries are very often made in the restaurants, so I recommend to order them with your succulent steak, yummy :P
If you want try Don Jose, here's the address:
Urquiza 484, Salta
