This place is famous for their tapas which is just excellent. They have a wide selection of tapas of course and also other dishes like sandwiches and salads. The price is quite good (for being in Norway)and the location is also great - in the heart of Grünerløkka an exciting area of Oslo.

After you have looked spent enough time with the ski jump tower you should walk up the Holmenkollen veien (aim for the church and you will see the road going up hill) for about 1.5km (it's up hill, I guess you figured that out already). You get to Frognerseteren which is a really nice small restaurant and coffee at the top. Views to the fjord are just amazing!

The restaurant is little bit on the expensive side but the coffee shop is priced more reasonably and they also serve some nice lunch dishes.

I love the Akershus Castle at the Akershus Fortress by the main port. This was once the royal palace in Oslo, before they buildt the one at Karl Johans Gate/street after Norway declarde their independece and decided to be a monarchy. The castle is full of ghosts and the original furniture.

Oslo, the capital of Norway is a diverse place and it has a lot to offer! Karl Johans Gate/Street is a street that leads to Royal Palace. On it's way, there are several bars and night clubs to choose from.

Just behind the Aker Brygge shopping mall at the waterfront, you will find Cosmo Thai Sushi - offering (as the name suggest), Thai cuisine and sushi. Prices are not too bad for Oslo (ok, I'm biased, I'm one of those oil-rich Norwegians), the atmosphere and decore is cozy, and service is friendly - and, not to mention, the food's great too.

Every summer (for the last two years) there have been a music festival at the fortress called Oslo Live Festival. There was so many diffrent bands playing there this year, and I am looking forward to next years festival. The fortress is in the city centre so it is easy to find it and easy to find your way home which is excellent! The prices this year were really good - NOK 99,- for a daypass.

Øyafestivalen, the biggest rock festival in Oslo, takes place here every year in mid-august. The rest of the year you can go for a stroll and admire the ruins of Medieval Oslo.

Frognerparken and Vigelandsparken are connected. Vigelandsparken is one of the most popular and famous tourist attractions in Oslo, but there are also some other very nice tourist attarctions in the area. In the park is also the old main house of Frogner Farm which is now called "Oslo City Museum". On the other side of Halvdan Svartes gate (street, going south of the park) is the Vigeland Museum.

This museum is so important for the history of Vikings. The ships are impressive and beautifully conserved. It is a small museum, but really worth a visit!

Karl Johans Gate is known as the main street in Oslo. It starts outside the train station and goes all the way up to the Royal Palace. The street is full of shops and always crowded, but at the same time a very neice street to visit.

The part after the Parliament and up to the Royal Palace is the best!

At the moment there is an exhibition about the 1980s displayed in the Folk Museum. It literally takes you back to the events and styles of the 80s, and you get a feeling of walking into a Norwegian home and going 25 years back in time. If you like retro, nostalgia and a good laugh, this is definitely it!

The museum is closed on Mondays. Munch painted several versions of the "Scream" so if you don't have time to go to the Munch-museum you can visit the National gallery instead. In addition to "Scream" they have a whole room dedicated to Oslo's most famous painter.

Fram is really impressive. The boat itself is extremely big, and it is so fun to go onboard the ship and see the cabins, the kitchen, and their "living room" with a piano!
The exhibition outside the boat explains (very well) the history and the importance of exploring the different poles. Don't miss it!

New Opera House is one of the "must" places. Just for a quick walk or for light picnic.

Oslo is a nice city but very very expensive! Not everybody has oil but the norwegians do and it makes the city damn expensive.

The fortress is one of the oldest remainig buildings in Oslo which makes it extra special! In the summer the have a big popular music festival there.

Every year, the 10th December, the Nobel Peace Peace Prize Ceremony is beeing held in the City Hall next door to the Nobel Peace Centre. This year Barack Obama recieved the prize and to celebrate it thay have free entrance all December.

The Nobel Peace Center always have great exhibition. Check out "From King to Obama"

This museum is one of three musuems located on Bygdøyneset. When you are there you might as well visit all three of them. They aren't that big so you won't spend to much time there.

Don't miss this museums even if you've never heard about Thor Heyerdahl or the Kon-Tiki - you will be amazed!

Many people looks for the fjord in Oslo, and even though it's right infront of them they also wish to have a boat trip so they can say that they have been on a fjord. These sightseing trips offers a little more than just taking you from A to B, they also offers information from a guide which is so much better.

You can rent skates here - not everybody have their skates with them at all time... It's really fun!

The Munch-museum have free entrance during the winter. During the high-season the ticket costs NOK 70,-
It is also included in the Oslo Pass.

The Norwegian wood festival(named after the song by the Beatles) is a festival in the west part of the centre of Oslo.
The festival has a very nice setting since it's located inside the famous Frogner park, with trees surrounding the festival area you almost forget you are in downtown Oslo.
The main stage is a perfect half bowl so no matter where you are you see the main stage.
They also have a smaller “Underwood” stage for up and coming bands, which play inbetween the main stage shows.
Otherwise you find your standard festival tents with junk food and large multinational companies advertising a new products to the youth.
The festival lasts 4 days and the are normally divided by different styles of music.
Artist like Neil Young, David Bowie,Van Morrison, Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop have all played once or more times at this festival! Some local Scandinavian heroes like De Lillos and Bob Hund have also played at this festival.

Yes the Narvisen skating ring is a great way to try out your skils on the Ice, kids adults, beginners and advance are all there, but it's chilled, no hockey skating going on here.

The castle is only open on Thursdays during winter and of course more often during the high season. The guided tour is very interesting since this castle is supposedly full of ghosts.

This is a private museum own by the Astrup-Fearnley family. They free entrance and are open everyday exept Monday. They have a wide selection of modern art and also have contemporary exhibitions like Nate Lowman. If you like modern art this museum is worth a visit.

In the summer you can take your bikje or walk up to the restaurant or you can get there by tram 18 and 19 Ljabru. You get off at Sjømannsskolen.

Subway line 1 Frognerseteren goes all the way up to the restaurant which is the last stop. The subway only go under ground through the city centre, so that means that the view and surroundings just get nicer and nicer. During the economical crisis in the 1960s the Norwegian king Olav V took the subway to Frognerseteren to go skiing.

The restaurant is open all year (not during the holidays) and in the summer they also have tables in the backyard which is superb! The restaurant is accesssible by tram 18/19 Ljabru to St. Hallvards plass (named after the patron saint of Oslo) but it is within walking distance to the city centre.

This restaurant serves traditional Norwegian dishes and is specially known for their cod-dishes and meat stews. In the basement they still have the original "gattabuja" (prison cells).

The best way to see the Opera House is to take a guided tour and then finish it off with lunch in one of the restaurants. The restaurant called Sanguine was named one of the most children-friendly restaurants because of the menu.

Even though the tower is closed it's and important landmark also today. I wouldn't reccomend people to go all the way up there just to see the tower, but those who go cross country skiing or alpine skiing at Tryvann will have to pass by the tower. Also in the summer for people who like to go hiking in the forest this is a great place to start. In those occations it could be cool to take a picture etc.

In addtition to the sculptures this is the place to hang out in the summer. Oslo-people loves to work on their tan so don't be afraid if you see a lot of people in bikinis and swimsuits running around!

They have guided tour in the museum, but it's also possible to go there yourself. I'm a big fan of this "private homes"-museum, it makes it more personal and gives you a glimt into everyday life hundred years ago.

The museum and the park should be visited the same day, but I can't agree with myself and my friends if it's better to see it before or after. Anyway, they are both worth a visit.

If you don't get into the palace, which is only possible during summer time, you can at least see the changing of the guards in front of it every day at 13:30. In the summer they also have parades from the Akershus Fortress to the Royal Palace every tuesday.

The artwork inside the City Hall is clearly inspired by the new working movement and can be seen in comparison to Mussolini's famous art like the one's on the buildings surround Piazza Augosto Imperatore in Rome. This is of course on a smaller scale.
It's possible to have a guided tour there, and every hour they play different songs with the big bells.

I'm not the biggest fan of amusement parks but this is the place to go for those who like it. Every year they have a new attraction and the rollercoasters get bigger and bigger.

From the Natural History Museum there's access to the botanical garden, Zoology museum, Geology museum and Tøyen Manor House. This museum is closed on Mondays. It is in the same area as the Munch Museum.

The Museum is great for kids and adults the same, but it is probably one of the museums in Oslo offering the most to children because of its interactive nature. Lot's of fun to be experienced!

The museum have free entrance and guided tours in Eglish from June to August. Open all year. NOt many people know of this pålace so if you are interested in history and want to visit something else than the mainstream museums this is the place to visit.

I just read about this place today in the newspaper, but it seems like a very interesting reataurant. Norway and Oslo are famous for their fish, and this must be a good one since it's all over the newspaper. I did some research, they unfortuneately don't have any website yet, and the prices seems quite good.

Many like to walk along Bogstadveien, for example after visiting the sculpture park and for shopping. Bølgen og Moi is not far from the shopping area so it's easy to combine with other activities like the ones mentioned above.

NIce city but very very very expensive city!

I specially like one particular room on the 1st floor with portraits of all the Nobel Peace Prize winners. 1st floor is definetly more fun that ground floor, so don't spend all your time there. The shop is also very cool.

The dishes are all typical Norwegian. From exotic whale meat to salmon and trout. They have a great selection of beer and Norwegian liqour - the last time I was there with some visitors from abroad they prepared a mix of liqours and dry whale meat and it was really fun. I learned a lot of new facts about the Norwegian cuisine.
They also have meat and soups - also open at lunchtime.

In the summer it's lovely to sit outside in the big courtyard, and in the winter it's nice to sit inside by the big fireplace. Prices are really good here, especially for tourist who are not used to Norwegian prices.
